The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) has released an update of the practice guideline on the Management of Adult Patients with Ascites Due to Cirrhosis last published in 2009 in the journal HEPATOLOGY. Cirrhosis is the eighth leading cause of death in the United States and ascites is the most common complication of cirrhosis.
