Hepatitis C: Treatment

How long does treatment last?

The length of time on treatment will vary according to hepatitis C genotype, previous treatment history and cirrhosis. People with no previous experience of treatment will usually receive an 8- or 12-week course of treatment. People with more advanced liver disease, or recurrence of hepatitis C after a liver transplant will receive a 12- or 16-week course of treatment to give the best chance of curing hepatitis C, depending on which drug combination is chosen.
